Would I be crazy to try and take frozen food from NYC to MLE? Is 24 hours way too long and it will definitely go bad?
In a cooler it will be fine as long as it's been frozen for a few days.

Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

It seems that they have 4 places https://secure.anantara.com/?country=MD&checkin=10/11/2014&nights=2&rooms=1&adults=2&source=device&language=en

Regardless, I was talking about the Veli one. The Deluxe Overwater Pool Bungalow.  http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g3612469-d1024787-Reviews-Anantara_Veli_Resort_Spa-Veligandu.html

That seems like an inordinate amount of money, particularly around these parts.

I paid ~$450/night at Halaveli.

As chuchem pointed out, that was years ago, before the Halaveli became as popular as it is now. At this point, $900 per night is no longer considered "double the regular rate".

I don't buy it.

I went in May, which is the low season, and they were running promos. I think I paid for 5 and got 6. It has nothing to do with Halaveli becoming more popular. If anything, the economy has improved and the promos aren't needed to fill beds.

I still think he can do better at the Conrad.

Potato, potato.

Call it whatever you want... Bottom line is that May 2015 is looking to be more expensive than May 2012, and it's not because people aren't doing the legwork that you did - it's because things changed, and that price is simply not to be had anymore.

What I'm saying is one should not be content paying $1,000+ per night, i.e.  overpaying, if there are better options, regardless if it's 2015 or 2025.

Halaveli - no question. But if you rather not spend that much the viceroy has stay 3 get the 4th free which was amazing for me... its a brand name hotel and was very good. i still believe halaveli is top notch.

\@AJK we had this same discussion when i went, its flat out more expensive, and i went in rainy season - august.

Exactly. But if someone is quoted, say, $900 per night, it isn't fair to say "you can do better, I only paid $450 a night"; it would be more realistic to say "you can do better, there are places you can get for $600 a night", or some other number more relevant to the way things are now.
