Chase,continental problems!
« on: January 19, 2010, 09:30:31 PM »
Update: I got my 22500 miles for the account opened on dec.31

No points for the january account.

(Did anyone get the bonus twice and how long does it take to get the last 2500?)

I want to book tickets that require 25000 miles.

Can I transfer 2500 star points into co miles ?

Would I be able to transfer co miles into star points?

Thanx for your help!

I think the 2500 come in a few weeks later. Starpoints transfer 2:1 so not great. I think someone can transfer 2500 to you for a fee- might not be so much- around $40-

It can take a couple months for all the checking bonuses to come through.

If you set up Starwood direct deposit to CO then all earned Starpoints from now on will go directly into your CO account at a 1:1 ratio.

AMEX MR or Chase Sapphire cardholders can transfer points into CO miles at a 1:1 ratio in case you want to trade for CO miles.

I would do it over the phone, but is it really worth doing?

You were able to fund $2,500 from a credit card?

(DAN)I would do it over the phone, but is it really worth doing?

In "general value" it might not be worth it but the reason i am thinking of doing this is as follows.
My primary goal always is free flights and hotel stays to be redeemed as easily as possible, rather than elite status or sometimes not even maximizing the value, because I tend to have more points than I use (and I tend not to sell my points) so what is the point in saving for redemption only when it has at least x amount value CPM if I will have plenty points left over anyways- I might as well always travel free (I dont get to travel too much)...
I currently have enough *points to cover anything i might want to do for at least the next 2 years (and some Hilton points if a *wood hotel is n/a) and I have the BA points that I use for domestic on AA and I have AA points through my Citi card(s) for El Al and other OW flights-

The one area I am lacking that would be useful is CO points, so instead of signing up for a CO card for another $85 annual fee and move spending over to that card, i might as well link my *wood card (that I am already paying the annual $45 fee) to CO for direct deposit temporarily until I top off enough point for a couple tickets to TLV in business and then take off the direct deposit and continue earning starpoints (I assume I can turn it on and off whenever i want?)

Any comments on this strategy based on my profile?

It's my understanding hat direct deposi from starwood to co at 1:1 is only for sarwood hotel spending & not sarwood credit card spending.

I've read conflicting reports online on this...if anyone tries it let us know once and for all and settle the record!
