I don't understand the connection between the ger tzedek's death and washing netillas yedayim in the morning. Sounds so random.
4? Care to list them?
The two "main" ones are; Yodayim askonios,/nekius and tumah. For reason one its not necessary to wash asap.
You sound like your doubting this well known mesora, believe you me, very few people understand these things so dont worry.

#4 is: we wash our hands before we start our Avoda each day like the Kohanim did. I don't have the Makor of hand but can look it up.

I don't get it.
Since when does Halacha change after a episode that happened a few hundred years after the Sh"u?
Isn't that one of the 13 Ani Mamins that our Torah will never ever be changed?

Well, at least we're discussing avatars.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

The "Torah" said that if there's a great amount of tumah on your hands you can't walk daled amos, that will never change. The Gaon said that the tumah got weakened.

Its the Abudraham.

Tumah is split up into two sources. A) Zohar- Sleep brings tumah.
B) Gemorah in Shabbos implies that the night time brings tumah, even without sleep.

One more thing- the rashba is brought down by the MB as one of two main reasons. That and the Rosh-cleanliness. Not tumah as you say.

Just to clarify, the idea of having to wash hands before walking 4 amos is only tied to the fact that the tumah is very strong and we dont want it lingering on our hands.
Kedusha pushes away tumah- a fairly simple concept.
The Gr"a said that the amount of kedusha that the graf "created" with his kidush hashem, pushed away some of the tumah of yodayim, this is why ppl have a tradition of not being machmir on the halacha of 4 amos.

I guess you missed the thread on the Pope? Talk about total disrespect for a leader of a religion.

Agreed.
If you are Catholic, my apologies for the disrespect.

I accept your clarification.

When I see a halacha misstated, such as "this is the reason we wash our hands" instead of "this is why we wash within four amos", I usually attempt to correct it so that others don't misunderstand the halacha.

I appreciate it but an apology is not necessary. There are always strong feelings when it comes to religion as it should be.

Yes, but disrespectful thoughts should be left in one's head, and definitely not posted in a public forum.

Yes. But it still is irresponsible, it is public, and there are Catholics (more than 1 that I know) on the forum.
