Hi,

So I have a Discover and a Barclay card, both of which give a free TU FICO.
My Discover score is 737 (from Aug. 21st) and Barclay is 721 (from Aug. 22nd). To the best of my knowledge, there have been no changes to my TU CR in that day.
How could this be? Anyone else have this?

Don't know why I didn't think of it before. I guess they're just using different "flavors". (See here: www.creditsesame.com/blog/scores-scores-and-more-scores-how-many-fico-credit-scores-do-you-have)
(For some reason the link doesn't work for me. If you have the same problem, just copy link and paste into a new tab)

My wife recently applied for a few CCs, starting with a US bank card and ending with some chase cards.
They both sent her FICO score in the mail.

US Bank - 709 Experian
Chase - 793 Experian

Now I know they use different flavors of Experian, but, seriously?
Chase app was a few pulls later, and yet, there's still a 84 point discrepancy!?

You sure they're FICO? IIRC, chase sends a FAKO.

IIRC, someone posted (Dan perhaps) that Barclays has their own formula in calculating scores different than other banks. They do however base their calculations on the Transunion report.
Watch this inspiring video.

I'm not sure, but I can't imagine why Chase would send a diff score than the one they pulled.

They pull a report not a score.

They use a different FICO model ('08).

Sure of that? I would think they get both.

IME chase is definitely not fico. Look at the letter. it doesn't mention the word 'fico'. They don't even have the same range. (IIRC 300 to 900, should say on the letter, which also explains why the chase score is higher)

Not true. They use real FICO. Don't know the version, but its fico.

Anyone? My Discover and Barclay's FICO score are all really good (around 824) but are TU and not Experian. I just took out 4 Chase cards in the last 3 months that should have been 3 pulls so I wonder if my Experian score is lower.

Same for my wife. She has an 847 as of 8/29/2014 per Discover FICO but she did just take out 2 Chase cards (though only one pull).

So after reading the last page or 2 (not everyone uses it, there's more then one version etc.) I get the impression that knowing your FICO isn't that worthwhile, am I wrong?

I'm not sure if that's true. My scores from Barclay and Discover have been very similar (within 2 points) and they seem to be off a bit only because they're from different dates.
