Never thought of bringing a flameless heating kit along. Did you like it?

yup, it worked great. each bag has 5 uses and we bought two but most of the rooms in NZ had microwaves so we didnt need to use them that much

microwaves
Double cover or you kasher them out?
I'd use the flameless to heat up meals while out for day trips.

It's not about if they're used to traveling, it's how much of the things you can do with them.
Unless they're all over 10 you're going to be limited IMHO.

And that's why I don't envision an NZ trip anytime soon.
I pulled off a night in EZE and 2 in CDG but much more than that isn't practical for now.

not so simple to kasher microwaves. i just double cover

we would only use it for dinners. for lunch we have tuna packets with mayo and crackers etc

its not only about if theyre used to it, but it certainly helps that they are.

they are used to/enjoy a break from routine, which includes possibly sleeping on a couch etc.

I never saw that flame less kit, interesting idea. It works the same way as the labriut meals heating packet?

Part 5: Milford Sound & Queenstown

Ever since I read a report on FTG, Milford Sound was high on my to do list. I was even going to go so far as making a quick stop to NZ on my way to Australia last year for the sole purpose of having a day to visit Milford Sound. That didn’t end up working out, so we had to do it now.

There are a few options of getting there from Queenstown. You can drive yourself, take a bus, fly, or a combination bus/fly. Being that we were with the kids, a 4-5 hour bus journey each way didn't sound like a great idea, and we also didn't want to miss what some consider to be one of the greatest scenic flights.

We used Air Milford and chose their Fly/Nature Cruise/Fly option, which is slightly more expensive but it goes on a smaller boat which gets into the nook and crannies better and focuses more on the fauna and flora.

They picked us up from our hotel and we flew with 2 other passengers on a spectacularly beautiful flight. The pictures just tell a tiny part of the story. It was breathtaking. Fans of the Lord of The Rings movies might be able to recognize some of the spots as the pilot was constantly pointing them out.
