Think everyone needs to post pictures of their day with the toaster like the Stanley Cup.

For what purpose?

Every year when we go to the Big Island we have to buy a cooler.  We always end up leaving it there since we don't want to shlep it back.  Next time we go, I'd be happy to leave the cooler for the next frum traveler.

But why do you need a cooler for a day trip?

You don't like cold drinks after hiking, snorkeling, or during a long drive ????

I never get in the car on vacation without a fully stocked cooler.

Among our first stops on the Big Island is Rabbi Chazanow.  We usually ask him to get us a kosher cornish hen from Costco.  Its an easy dinner meal - throw it into a crock pot in the morning and its done when you come back to the hotel for supper.  We sometimes buy other food for later as well which we throw into the cooler.  Since we usually stay in Volcano for 4 nights, we have to drive from Kona for a few hours and need a cooler to keep the frozen food we get from Rabbi Chazanow cold.

Then, during our vacation, we invariably drive all over - Waipio, VNP, Kona, South Point/Green Sand, etc.  It's nice to have a cooler in the car to keep drinks and perishables cold.  We typically take salami and cheese along - keep that in the cooler for sandwiches.

I do, but with 2 kids I can barely carry all the stuff we need for the day as it is.
If I need a cold drink I'd just buy one on the road.

I hear why it's not practical for you, but I'd imagine that must people probably do keep a cooler in the car.

I think that PBaruch's got a good point. Many people buy stuff which could be better passed on than thrown away.

Stuff is never "thrown away."  It would be nice, however, to be able to do the mitzvah of passing it along to another frum traveler.  I'm sure Rabbi Chazanow really doesn't need a cooler every year.   :)

Costco makes great cold bags for this purpose! They're about $7 and hold up really well.
