FYI Qatar airline offers a free doha city tour to anyone with a stopover over 5 hours.
to qualify however, you need to be flying qatar airlines on both your incoming and outgoing flight, not to flying on a codeshare (ticket # has to start with 157 IIRC) and not be flying shorthaul (to any GCC countries)

Have a 3.5 hour stopover on the way home and want to try and see the city a bit but the stopover isn't long enough for QR tours. I land at about 10pm and takeoff for my next flight is at 1:40am. Too short to leave the airport or do I have time to do something? Also, is there anything open at that time of night?

I doubt its enough time to do anything unless you just want to take a cab in to we sit and say you were there.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn. 10 minute drive from the airport and 5-10 minute drive from the city. Great hotel and was only $60 for the night.
