The mohalim in BP get way less. Of course, they never asked and the standard isn't more than $200.

That's about standard.  None of them "charge," they just tell you their recommended rate.  600 seems pretty much in the standard range.

Low end $600? I don't think so. I paid $300-400 and I asked before what they give him and was told people give $200 but $300-400 is nice to give.

Here in the 5T I asked lots of ppl/rabbis/friends/family and they used a range of 5 diff mohels and when I asked them about prices they were all telling me 600/650/800. No one was even remotely lower.

When I did choose the mohel and asked him about a price he told me 650 but also added that if this is not affordable I can obv do less which I thought was nice of him to add.

Henche could negotiate a ddf discount with his brother.  I think I could get his recommended rate down to 500 plus a bagel and lox for henche.

There are more popular Mohels and less popular Mohels. A popular Mohel can sometimes do three Brissim a day, whereas a less popular Mohel may be lucky to do one every two weeks.

From my own experience with my children, the more popular Mohels will suggest a lower amount, in the $300-$500 range, whereas the less popular ones will suggest more. Some Mohels will suggest an amount based on your financial standing.

This may be different in your locale, but this is the way it is where I live.

I just made a bris yesterday and used a very popular mohel. He doesn't ask for any specific amount. But if you ask him how much is normal for people to give, he says $400-$600. I gave him $500.
