I'm with a @Something Fishy here. This was unexpected. Having sent my Son to the plays in the past (having gone to those types of plays when I was a kid), I find this to be significantly more Yiddish, Yom Tov'dig, Educational, Tznius and Kosher form of entertainment than the overwhelming majority of other options (pretty much anything else other than sitting with my Son and learn with him...)
The plays by various קרן חתנים were excellent, and I sent my kids to those. Many of those were based on Torah sources, or at least had some educational message.
My kids have watched אונטערן plays at home, so I've seen some of them. They are just entertainment (and once you're familiar with the genre, very shallow and predictable stories) with no message. אונטערן plays have put the other ones out of business, as they can't compete with the budget, leaving the ציבור with fewer options, and while the props and the production might be amazing, I can't recall any message of value out of them.
