Something tells me they're not looking to spend any money (ridiculous).

+1.. Definitely not ridiculous at all.

I've stayed at other DDF's houses before for a night and even for Shabbat, and I have to say, each time was great. Shared stories, experiences, etc. I would do it again or possibly even host others. Sometimes you want to get away and a hotel isn't always the best option.  ;)

A night is different than a week.

Totally agree, but this is a brand spanking new member, so it's a different ballgame.

As for the OP: if you know anyone whatsoever in Hancock Park they can probably help you out. Otherwise, try posting in the community email called Hillygram (by emailing moshe@hillygram.com) to see if anyone has a place.

If you're looking for a place in Pico and willing to spend, PM me. I know someone who rents out a side apartment short term.

How would you host others, you're never home ?  :)

Lol.. Well said. But for the weekends I am home...

On the other hand if anyone is ever interested in hosting a traveler for Shabbat...

I personally have friends that live in LA and I was there with my wife. I only used a friend that had a backhouse for two nights (shabbos) because it would have been to difficult to stay in a hotel. The other five nights I stayed in hotels. When I was at my friends they mentioned how awesome it was that I didnt just mooch of the back houses and how annoying it was that people just come and ask to park for a week or two and it has become expected that the owners just do it for everyone. They are usually to nice to ever actually say no, but I know they feel like it is getting out of hand.
