Looks amazing . Not that I know you or even know that you are jewish. assuming you are jewish how do you justify going into temples that are more than likely been used for idol worship. Thus going against the Almighty's will as expressed in the shulchan aruch?
i actually dont have a problem with the question, au contraire, i welcome it
it would also be hypocritical of me to reject your question since i have a history on here of questioning things based on judaism and sometimes calling people out (not so much recently). even in this very report i captioned a picture of an identifiably (is that a word?) treif restaurant of being a legitimate dining option for those who eat rabanut (albeit jokingly, but still...)
with regards to your question itself:
note that i didnt post any pictures of me actually being inside a temple, that makes a big difference. but even if i would have, the explanation is the following.
i am very sensitive to going into places of avodah zarah. the widely accepted view is that churches are considered a place of avodah zara. as such, when i visited rome i did not enter the st peters basilica (not that i have interest in the church itself, but rather the claim that it contains a column from the beis hamikdash). nor did i go see michelangelo's moses since it is housed in a church.
i take it a step further. i not only avoid going into fully functioning churches, but also to places where prayer services are held, even once a year, such as the sistine chapel. i had to wait outside while my tour group entered the pantheon in rome. a fully functioning church? no. but my research showed me that there are prayer sessions held there a few times a year. ditto with the mezquita in cordoba, spain
HOWEVER, the above does not apply for deactivated churches. as long as there are no longer religious services held, it's fair game, such as with the hagia sofia in istanbul and the parthenon in athens. one should certainly consult with their own rabbi to see what he should do, but this is a valid shita as well
the angkor wat hasnt been used for any idol worship ceremony in ages. this could technically change, so before someone visits they should do research as i did. i didnt specifically ask a rov about the angkor wat, because to me, avoda zarah is avodah zara is avodah zara
i hope i answered your question, if you have any more, feel free to ask
