Sure! What did you want to know? It'd be easier to answer questions, as I've given my general opinion of what I thought about traveling solo.

first of all super great TR. point of info for hk on sunday. as most of you know the population that lives on hk island is on the wealthy side and they employ nannys and cleaning ladies. sunday is maids day is how i recall the name. the help needs a day off. the help is mainly imported from the phillipines ans other asian nantions. so they have no where to go on sunday. hence they set up areas like those cardboard boxes in the entire central area. rain or shine they camp out acrossthe main streets, cooking , entertaining , meeting friends and family right out in the open. it was quite a site.

Thanks. Thanks for the explanation.  I guess that makes sense in a way, though I didn't know that about the people of HKI.

WOW!!! Thank you very much! Though, I still can't see myself doing a trip solo; especially no one with so many destinations/segments/details.

You're welcome. To each his own, but I rather enjoyed it myself.

I don't work for myself. I got credit for every hour I worked, 1:1. We don't bill hourly or by job. After I came back it was as if I never took any days off, despite being out of the office for 7 working days.
great that you have this flexibility and that more employers are moving in this direction.  I could do this (transactional/banking  attorney) on a one-day basis (as I did this past Friday for a short hop up to Toronto for the weekend), but for extended periods, particularly when I'm several time-zones away, there is no way this would fly in my office. Sure, I could handle drafting credit agreements and delegating work on my own schedule, but even with call forwarding, clients expect me to answer the phone during business hours, and colleagues expect me to be reachable, and that would simply not happen on the other side of the world.

I agree, many people can't do it. I don't have much client contact at all, so it's easy for me. But as I said, that's where the perks/benefits end.

Hold your horses. I don't have any other benefits besides flexibility with my time (no retirement, insurance, etc). Still want to sign up?
Depends how much you get paid. Benefits are just another form of compensation

It's doable. I have a very busy equity partner in my firm who wanted to move to Israel. He works American hours in Israel and flies back once or twice a month.

That's a lot easier than working on vacation abroad. Any tax professionals want to chime in on tax and work visa requirements if you bill hours abroad (I'm assuming in Yehoshua's case there isn't much of an issue, but in your and my case, there may be an issue)?

True, but I don't believe I'm getting more than someone else in a similar position with benefits.
