Half the fun was kayaking in pitch dark, and seeing the water light up while rowing! And bumping into everyone :)
Note; look deep into the water for fish...as they swim through they light up. So flipping cool!

I did the 5pm tour, so the way out was light and we were the first tour, the way back in was crowded and we were bumping into everyone. It definitely was fun!!
I enjoyed the 2hr kayak chill, the glow was cool, but was only for a short time. We had a great relaxing time.
The tour guides were funny too!

We had that on the way back. That's kinda my point that with the earlier tour you get to experience both.

We did the twilight tour out and it was pitch-dark when we got there.

Which hotels are on the beach in San Juan or surrounding areas?  None of the Starwood hotels are on the beach in except for the one on the island?  Can someone recommend hotels with beaches?

There are some in the condado area. I liked this area the best, it's the more upper-class neighborhood and is nice and clean (just a few homeless sitting on the corners). Don't think there are any starwoods hotels there though.

It's right across the bridge from old San Juan. Maybe a 15 min walk. You can see the old city from there.

What about the Sheraton in Old San Juan?  It looks like it's on the bay or beach?  I can't really see the pool though, is it nice?

Any recommendations for hotels on the beach with good rates on "family size" rooms/suites, either with chabad discount or otherwise?

The W in Vieques looks beautiful, and that island hold the Guinness world record for the most powerful bioluminescent bay in the world.
