Assuming you spent over 7,500 in spending not including chase/discover etc. 5 percent categories. the 1099int (besides paying taxes)may mess up the eitc  - as interest is capped at around 11k..
There are other benefits to gold such as 3 percent bonus match for ira contributions and a 1 percent bonus match for contributing into an investment account (beginning in early May, Gold members will receive a 1% unlimited deposit boost on all incoming brokerage deposits, with no cap) - that may offset the fee too - (I'm not going to count their hysa as there are banks giving more than them)
