I've been trying to build up my credit and it's simply not working. I can't even get a Gap card. Can you please give me other ideas?

I had/have the exact same problem. I recently signed up for a citi secure credit card. Basically you put down a amount of $ that will be put in a 18 month CD. That money is also your credit limit. They are currently giving 4% on that money. Then they give you a cc and make sure you pay each month on time and they report monthly to the credit places.

yes, but thats at least how i started off my credit back in the day and now ive got a very good score. if you are indeed interested in building your credit and cant even get a gap card you dont have too many options. which reminds me of back in the day i applied for the sony card which at the time was issued by a "zions bank" and after being declined, called the bank directly and spoke to a manager who agreed to give me the card after negotiating a very low credit limit.

I'm so sorry take that as a typo- thank you MR. MOISH for the idea that worked for me and thanks to everyone else for their good ideas. I don't even know how much credit i got but i couldn't care less as long as i have ''MY CREDIT CARD" so i'll be able to get the cools ones hopefully...

Easiest way to build credit is to have your parent add you with your SSN to their account.

If you are added as a joint user and supply the SSN on a good old account it will drastically improve anyone's credit within a month.
