$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

I actually don't see a line for Middle East on the new award chart on AA's website. Is that a mistake?

Correct. Same thing for EY J JFK-AUH-MLE.

Interesting thing is that after the devaluation, Sri Lanka is moving to ME/Indian Sub-Continent, so CMB connections to MLE will be available on single awards for those routing through EY or QR. I haven't found instances where this will save you the required overnight connection when traveling from the US on EY, but it will (i) allow you to arrive in MLE earlier in the day if you want to maximize your time there or (ii) add on a sub-24 hour layover in CMB if you want to check out Sri Lanka..

I thought of that, but it will take twice 5 days, once for the SPG>SPG, 2nd for the SPG>AA....

Was a particular time-zone specified for the devaluation? Does it go by the local departure city?

So the answer would be yes. Change it from HKG-BKK to HKG-SIN-BKK than drop the last leg. Any reason why that shouldn't work?
Just to follow up, it worked! No issue at all.

Nope.
Believe we both mean the same point. because O/D are not the same, OP can not add on the TLV-AMM to the existing itinerary without incurring a change fee. OP can of course book the TLV-AMM now as a separate award if OP wishes to avoid the change fee.

AJK is simply pointing out that, I believe, that TLV-AMM-AUH-JFK is a valid routing (i.e. that the rule regarding trans-oceanic carrier selling a ticket between the origin and destination no longer applies (or in any event, is not enforced)?
