Cancelling an Amex platinum but want to keep lounge access
« on: February 02, 2012, 08:21:19 AM »
I saw a bunch of forums stating that the best way to keep the lounge access is by either

- downgrading (card with same number)

- just using your inactive card at the lounge

Wouldn't the easiest way be to just call up priority pass and have them send you one of their cards? ( i remember getting one soon after signing up)
when you cancel your Amex platinum do they contact priority pass to deactivate your account?

I know that when trying to get lounge access internationally they don't accept the platinum rather they require your priority pass number and pin so an expired platinum doesn't even help in that situation.

Expired priority passes don't work.

I didnt keep track of time, maybe its a yearly fee they pay, so it will work up to a year.

I think you can get different results. I used it in multiple occasions with my wife and only got the $27 bill for companion.

When I cancelled my Plat I got a letter from PP saying that I'm switched to a different PP pass where I pay $27 per-person-per-visit.

@OP there is at least one other thread, although this one seems to already include every possible scenario.

I thought the PP through amex always incurred a $27 fee for guest...?

Same, although I only got the letter for me, not my 3 AU's...

Right, and now I also have to pay $27 for myself each time I visit a lounge. I can guest people in (same rules as the Amex plan) at $27pp as well.
