How to best care for tefillin

OT: For those who travel, do  you always bring it indoors with you?
being that I'm not a practicing Lubavitcher, i don't always bring it inside with me because i once left it at a client's facility. On the other hand now I'm concerned about heat damage

Does insulating something help if you’re not starting with something cold? I suppose you could put an ice pack, but that sounds equally concerning.

Direct sunlight is certainly bad and heat should be avoided as much as possible.
Also anything they may give it condensation obviously shouldn't be done.

Bring it inside.
Put an airtag/tile in it so you don't lose it/forget it.
