However, if they do open P+C, and there is a standard suite, the hotel must accept the DSU.
From multiple calls and first hand experience at Andaz papayago, this is not the case. There is apparently a special basket for suites upgrades on P+C awards.
HUCA
Just want to comment anecdotally that the much touted and discussed ability to apply a DSU to P+C awards is over-rated. Good luck finding available inventory at any of the desireable award sweetspots. Andaz Maui completely blocks p+c altogether. Andaz Papagayo refused to apply it after I finally confirmed a p+c award. Hyatt coconut point also refuses to apply it to anything but a full paid rate, even though there are still plenty of open suites one week out. GHK still seems to be pretty good about opening space, but I wouldn't be surprised if that ends soon.
Data point: I think now Hyatt gives the diamond amenity for award (points) nights. So now a cat 3 Hyatt night will cost only 8600 instead of 12,000. (20% off + 1000 bonus points)
yes, but it doesn't count as a stay, correct?
I have always gotten the 1k points on award stays. Correct.
-1 at least for me. I had 2 award stays this past week, no points.
Are you referring to the 1k diamond amenity (500 at hyatt place)? I have never not gotten it on an award stay when i requested it in the last 4 years I've been a diamond. Any time it didn't post i submitted a request for it and got 150% of it (which is the policy)ETA: if i must prove it, here is a link from 2010 where the HGP representative on FT confirms it - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt-gold-passport/1095802-diamond-amenity-points-award-stay.html
Make sure they also add the bonus for the hotel not automatically posting it.
Anything at the Hyatt Regency Hong kong?
Crazy how the benefits can be so drastic from one hotel to the next. From my research, Andaz Maui offers breakfast (nothing for Kosher, so perhaps you can get some sort of compensation), a couple of bucks off the spa and no unique complimentary benefits.Anyone know anything I left off the list?
