Our lifestyle requires one to be super diligent about fire safety,  not just average.

Take a step back and see what's actually required and what's not. Eliminate the extras, and keep the actual requirements and be diligent.

Example,  perhaps shabbos candles don't need to burn 3-4+ hours, especially on a late yom tov second day.

That is not what I was trying to say. I was saying that we should take their expertise and knowledge seriously and therefore even if we can't abide exactly by their recommendations, figure out how to put more safeguards in place that we are able to do. Don't just dismiss them. Leitzanus achas....

what made me start this thread is the fact that the house that burned down on Shabbos Pesach in Monsey was noticed when only the table was engulfed in flames, but they didn't have the tools to put it out, now imagine if they would.

would a fire extingusher help? I don't know, but time plays a role

Better access to these stories and growing communities would also contribute to this effect. Not saying it’s not increasing, but was curious if the title was actually proven true.
