United Quietly Limits Business Class Checked Bags Allowance

Business class travellers would be allowed 2 suit cases of 70lb each, now only 50lb each. Most airlines allow 2x70lb in business.

I checked my upcoming flight, you are right! 2x50, but my status allows 3, so something is off. Also the baggage allowance rules  still shows 2x70.

Uch. Elites can still take 70lbs. But this is an actual benefit. Super annoying to get dinged when you're at 53 lbs.

They've had this bug for years now. It does show 70lb when booking through the app.

You're right about the app showing 70lbs when booking business class. But on the website (when booking a new ticket) it shows 50lbs.

Also, I checked on an existing itinerary on the website and on the app and on their "baggage-calculator" as well, in all those places it says 50lb.

In the last few years it always showed 70lbs for business class.

The baggage calculator is wrong, it shows 50lb for Premier 1k as well. I don't remember specifically what the calculator showed in the past, but they definitely had the wrong amounts on some ticket bookings a while ago already.

A phone agent confirmed that the allowance is 50 lbs. (he wasn't capable [enough] to check if it there was a change in the policy).

Will report next week after the actual trip.
