I have Google nest thermostats (not the "learning" one)
I'm very happy with it.
One downside is that the screen turns on by sensor and the only way to make it kosher for shabbos is to have the screen turn on only if you touch the thermostat, which means that you can't see the current temperature without going over to the thermostat and pressing it, somewhat annoying.

Or you can open the app on your phone. Or even ask Google Assistant.

That's right, but still a bit annoying over just seeing it in front of your face without doing anything.

Is there anyone that has an always on display? What happens if you want to see the temperature on Shabbos and whether the air-conditioning is going to go on.

Shopping for a smart thermostat that works with Google Home. I read somewhere that @Dan was happy with Honeywell, but there are a few models. Anyone has a recommendation based on personal experience?

Most work just fine with Google Home. Shabbos is your bigger concern

T-9/T-10 are both great.

I have had the ecobee3 Lite (Dan recommended) for several months, but it has not been satisfying the primary reason for me purchasing it: having the current temperature being determined based on the temperature in a different room than the main thermostat. Even when "follow me" was turned on, the system would NOT turn on and off based on the temperature of the secondary sensor—even if it was the only room occupied.

I just changed the settings so that the sensor on the main thermostat is essentially inactive. Meaning that I unchecked the sensor on the main thermostat for "Home," "Away," and "Sleep."

I understand that I need not necessarily deactivate it for all three of those time periods, but is it correct that the only way to have the secondary sensors determine whether to turn on/off is to have the main sensor inactive during that time? (Until now, I assumed that the system should not turn off until ALL the sensors reached the desired temperature. Instead, the system would just shut off when the desired temperature was met on the main thermostat.
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

This is what I have always done.

This is what I have always done.
Thanks! Until today, I thought my unit was not functioning properly.

Is there any point in having additional sensors if you don't deactivate the sensor on the main unit? Is "follow me" only relevant for determining the temp between additional sensors, but not for the main? (Just seems like an odd way to program the system.)

I'm deciding between the Honeywell T9 and Ecobee thermostats. My primary need is the sensors.
Which one is recommended
