Lancaster Chol Hamoed trip report:
We went to Herrs factory on the way to Lancaster. Kids and adults loved it! We were lucky as the other people who would have been on our tour were one big family and were running late. We ended up getting a private tour, and it was fascinating.
We stayed at the Double Tree. It was pretty meh, except for the water playgrounds which the kids really enjoyed.
Day 2 we did Kreider Farm. Once again both kids and adults had a nice time. The mashgiach for Pride of the Farm came onto the bus to answer some questions and we got to see a newborn calf.
After that we went fruit and vegetable picking at Brecknock Orchards. Admission was free, and they provided shears, wagons and ice cold water. Besides the orchard they also had a playground with many activities for kids. A kiddie hay maze, play tractors, lawn games etc. Great value for your money!
Day 3 we did a farm tour at Old Windmill Farm which is an authentic Amish farm. We got to milk a cow, hold baby goats, chickens and bunnies, feed horses and calves, collect eggs and take a hayride. Kids also got a barrel train ride and got to "harvest" fruit and vegetables. It was an awesome experience and the family living on the farm were nice and friendly.
We drove to the Pinnacle Overlook for lunch. Breathtaking views! DW loved that we passed an Amish schoolhouse on the way. Was cool to see!
We did a horse and buggy ride with Abe's. The nice part about Abe's is that you get a private tour regardless of how many people you are.
Day 4 we did Cherry Crest which needs no explanation....
