My experience with a number of them but around ten years ago was that the proofreading after OCR was almost as tedious as typing

It all depends on what the usage and how clear the document is.

ABBYY FineReader does a great job (try the online version free https://finereaderonline.com/en-us), and with the Dekstop version you can train the program based on your own text. But it is not very cheap.

Haha. Same. Brings to mind this:

If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

It is a top of the line OCR program.

Not sure what you mean by scripts.

I2OCR has been good for me in the past (over 90% accurate for what I needed)

Free and fast to start, upload a page to test it and decide yourself.

by script do you mean handwriting?
I suspect that is beyond the ability of software period. perhaps AI trained on a specific writer's handwriting and body of work...

Any updated recommendation of a Hebrew OCR?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

But 'they' isn't everyone. The recently released DeepFloyd IF (by StabilityAI the developers of Stable Diffusion) does a pretty good job generating text.
