Whew! Took me an hour to read all the replies.

Imagine if @Dan never wrote his original article. Lufthansa would've gotten away with this so bad. I was very disappointed at first that the story wasn't getting its deserved coverage, and that was before I knew all the horrifying details. B"h, this is blowing up huge now. I always believed in the #DansDealsEffect, but wow!!! Huge Yasher Koiach to Dan for blowing up this story like crazy, and although you are not receiving all the deserved credit in this world, I'm sure they aren't only using the Hamodia version in Shamayim...

So many news organizations are basing their story off of the Hamodia version, which is missing 95% of the context that I dug up and makes for a far less damning story.
Quick gratification is the name of the game in the news.

The race to report is a big part of the problem, and that's true at MSM outlets too, unless you focus on the long reads, such as in Rolling Stone or The Atlantic, where they're not getting a scoop.
The lack of basic journalistic training (due to lack of basic journalistic education) is the second issue, more endemic to Chareidi Journalism. they simply don't know the basic rules - attribution, proper confirmation, proper permission, etc.
