Risky actions with Chase?
« on: July 21, 2023, 08:18:52 AM »
Just because I know that many believe a money order into a chase account will call for almost immediate shutdown, wanted to know about buying groups checks? I usually put into TD, but being america’s most convenient bank comes with very convenient side effects like money holds for 6 business days because its a large check. Chase has never done anything like that for me, and i’ve put in large amounts of money. Wanted to know if people deposit buying groups checks into Chase and if they think that it has ever led to issues? Specifically from USA

Do NOT use chase.

If ever they have a problem associated with that BG, they can (have?) shut down any account that was depositing checks from that account

What exactly is the issue?

If chase suspects points earning practices they don’t like, they will shut down all accounts, banking and credit cards, because they feel you are abusing the system. If a check goes into the bank that has a good history or being for reasons of MS they may have suspicion. Money orders are a significant red flag, but i know some people do buying groups without issues. I just know that some people say never to try it. Just wondering what most people’s experience is

Any issues with the Staples/Office Depot Visa/Mastercard on chase ink cash? Has anyone been doing this in significant number over time? Anything to be aware of? Any info greatly appreciated.

I think I’ve done about 10k total worth of visa gift card spend at staples in the past 6 months or so and Chase hasn’t given me any issues so far. One thing you should do to avoid getting your card declined at check out is to add something small to make the dollar amount uneven so it looks like a regular large purchase of merchandise.

Thanks so much. Any thoughts on what we’re to happen if they they know/knew it’s gift cards? What’s the risk do you regard this as no risk at all, clawback risk or worse like shutdown risk. I’m really curious since all the DDMS posts make seem like a regular 0 risk thing. Sounds like your saying you only do it to avoid card decline. Thanks again @egzactly.

My Chase checking account was closed for precisely this reason. I deposited a check for $80k from a buying group and a few days later my accounts was closed.

I wouldn't expect doing anything 1 time to get you shutdown but maybe gvann has personal experience/DPs otherwise.
