1. with an enhanced drivers license
2. If you are under 16 with a birth certificate
3. A BIG YMMV on getting in with a Canadian license or a Photocopy of your passport (I wouldn't drive 5 hours from NYC relying on that).

Was asking about a photocopy. Any way of calling the border and asking if they would allow, meaning if they tell me on the phone that it will work can I rely on that?

Did they tell you that? Try to get the name of the person who told you, you might have luck with that.

I have done it with a canadian birth certificate going into canada but it was 5 years ago and the guy was nice it's a real YMMV

Correct, just you would need a different MR card open to effectively use the MR. Someone CMIIW

That's strange, when I send an email there's a message that says that my email address will be visible to the recipient.
