I know, so a basic closet with 5 shelves is around $35 in material, and I'm looking to pay around $100

100% agree, however there are times when a job is only worth so much to you, so while to get beautiful custom closets can easily run $7-800 a closet I don't need/want that.
I have already had 2 different Hispanic workers agree to do it for me at that approximate price but neither is available in the next week

I understand your point regarding calling a store a rip off but what is wrong with wanting to save some money on shelving?

For the prices they charge,  they can buy thier stuff on Amazon and mark it up,  and make a profit.
(maybe they do do that).

They are catering to the non-amazoners. The non-interners.
They are charging more for the service/convenience.

FWIU, DB happens to not buy their stock from Amazon, but you're completely right about the crowd they're catering to.
Also, they're charging a premium to get it on the spot, as opposed to waiting 2 days for Prime. I buy everything on Amazon, but when I needed something that day, I went to DB.

I used him recently... Nice guy.... If it's an iPhone 5 it's pretty simple to do yourself... iPhone 5s is a bit more complicated
