Author Topic: Amex online credit limit transfer is back (Read 11636 times)

I dont remember seeing anyone else post this but I just noticed that I am getting the option on the Amex website to shift CL between between credit cards online (in my case I had the option on my Hilton and Starwood personal cards).
This option was available near the bottom of my "recent activity" page on these individual cards.

I tested a $10K credit shift and it was approved and showed instantly.

This option is obviously not available on the charge cards and I didnt see it on my one business card.

(Note, I thought I saw this option a few weeks ago but I wasnt paying attention and didnt verify it at the time. So I dont know when this actually went into effect.)

Soft pull maybe? I haven't heard of anyone getting a hard pull.

It looks like you only need to leave 500 on the card. In the past any CL over 25k created undo attention.

It does not give me the option between two personal cards. and SPG personal, and a delta reserve personal. Any have this experience?

I also suspect not everyone may see this feature depending on their individual account history with AMEX. I know I had it for awhile then it disappeared right after my FR (even though I passed with flying colors and cards/limits were untouched). As of right now I have 2 cards which should definitely be compatible and it is not showing up for me either, although 1 was only recently opened.

Is it instant for everyone?

Regarding the pull, from my experience over the phone less than a year ago they told me they definitely would be doing a hard pull.
Also from the fact that they ask for total annual income it makes me think they do a pull as they usually go hand in hand.
Can anyone who did it please clarify if they saw a pull and if the transfer was instant?

What would the annual income question have to do with pulling? There's no corroborating data on credit reports.

My guess is it's instant.

i have tried to transfer credit many times. i have great credit and history with amex but for some reason they did not want to let me. every time for a different reason

The account to transfer from was too new, or the account to transfer to was also too new
