Can I add my 2 year old to my accounts, so in 16 years he'll have a long credit history?
You can add him when hes 18 and itll retroactively go to when you opened the card. Im on my moms macys card from when i was like 16 and it shows i have a 37 year old oldest card - im only 29.
only true for cards issued by amex. amex makes all your cards have the same opening date as your oldest card. other issuers go by actual opening date.
Incorrect. Your CR will mirror the account info from the primary holders CR.
you're right, my bad, i was referring to primary cardholder. With AU it should work for all issuers.
where?
We are not on the same page. The OP is talking about building credit, which would depend on what displays on your CR. You're talking about the "member since" date displayed on the card. That has nothing to do with building credit.
Adding as an AU will show up on your credit report as credit age of the age of the primary card holder.
On a related note - for a SBS type promo, can you in fact add a minor (like 2-4 y/o) as an AU to get extra cards?
What's an SBS type promo? I don't need the 'Date opened' for my child. I just want to build a positive credit history for her starting now.
