Not really. A US passport is good enough. An Israeli passport is also ok you just require a visa.

Yes, they said they don't have for sale

There are many options from NYC. To list a few: CX, CZ and SQ.
There's Chabad there: https://www.chabadbali.org/ (For security purposes; you may have to submit Photo ID etc. showing that you're jewish, before they disclose the location).

No, I didn't get yet, will probably bring my own food for during the week either way. I'll let you know if I get any more info

I think both are places that have their own experience, neither is better than the other.
if you want a unique experience then Komodo Island is the right choice, if you prefer to enjoy the beauty of the sea, especially underwater beauty then Gili Island is a more appropriate choice.
but this does not mean that Komodo Island does not have tropical natural beauty, in my opinion both are very beautiful and very very romantic places and most importantly both have local residents who are very hospitable to all tourists who visit no matter where the tourists come from.

What do you need drivers for?

Seminyak is a very beachy/hip vibe but it's nice. Chabad is in Seminyak
