Hidden city tickets 30+ years ago: I had the pleasure of having my grandpa staying with us over the chag. He shared with us a great amount of stories from the past. One of the stories that really popped out, was an old time version of hidden city tickets. He told us that he flew a Concorde flight from NYC to Paris to Tel Aviv and back for just $1k instead of $8k each way.
How'd he get it so cheap? His brother booked him a flight that originated in Nigeria to NYC to chop down the price. Obviously, he skipped that flight. Now, back in the day they had a booklet or something similar with all the tickets for the full trip attached. Only problem is, my grandpa's brother forgot to tell him to detach the Nigeria ticket! They stopped my grandpa at the airport, but he managed to convince them to let him on the plane.
After a while, Concorde figured out the loophole and stopped selling tickets through Nigeria to Americans. To get around it, my grandpa and his brother got themselves Nigerian passports!
I would love to have CV verify if this story could be true
