what does chase do now?? this is a huge blow for them. British is useless partner because of amex, marriot is nothing special. To me the only valued partner they have is hyatt, am i wrong?
Yup, not to mention is 2 for 1 for chase / UR collectors.  (Southwest)

OUCH :o
What about booking JFK FRA NRT with LH F using UA 70K in the next 2 days when LH F releases F seats, then tell UA cant fly now, but ill wait at another day with in 12 months? and use the same ticket in may2014!!!!!

You'll have to change the ticket in two days from now, pay the change fee, realize there is no LH F availability to change TO, and then be out $200 or so and be no farther along than you are now.

Or don't change in two days and just forfeit the miles :P

If you change a ticket you don't pay the change fee until you rebook new flights.

Anyone see guidance on date changes?
Based on past changes they should be at the old award rate but I haven't seen it discussed.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you change a ticket you don't pay the change fee until you rebook new flights.

So in his scenario, you can just call in two days, say "I'd like to change, but not sure to what yet" and he won't be charged any fees in two days?

Even if his previous flight has already departed?

it might be worth to pay the $200 change fee then pay double  2 x 70k?!!

The value of UR will also drop.

I don't understand how Chase lets then do it. It's a big hit.
I also find it hard to believe that these things are done without their knowledge.

You sure it's without the top brass' knowledge? Or is it just w/o the Chase CS rep's knowledge?

Correct

(Btw the call won't doing anything).

Wouldn't be surprised if Chase knows about it and will be paying UA a bit less for the miles, making this a good deal for them and UA and not for us.

Chase would have been well aware of this far in advance of the move.

There is no way that they ever signed a deal with United without discussing such a possibility

Correct

(Btw the call won't doing anything).

So you have to do nothing.

Just call at some point and change the ticket.

So I guess it may be possible, if UA uses the pricing scheme based on the date of the ticket, to book LH F months in advance for a mere change fee.

Highly doubt it will actually work

I mean booking a flight in June and then switching to diff date in June. Would that make a difference?

Changes in stopovers coming Feb 1.

A stopover is permitted on roundtrip award travel only. One stopover is permitted, unless otherwise noted. Additional mileage may be required for Saver Awards within the continental U.S., Alaska and Canada. For travel booked on or after February 1, 2014, a stopover is permitted only on certain roundtrip itineraries. Additional mileage may be required.

Wow. The extent of the bloodbath just keeps getting larger and more pervasive.
