To clarify, you can get data with a prepaid plan, but you cannot get any smartphone data package (BB, iPhone etc.) with a prepaid plan. Only on a contract.

so that may be a good reason that a person who needs/wants to have access to what a smart phone can give them wont want to do the $2 plan, but I know many people who dont need to access the services that a smart phone has yet pay $99 plus tx every month and dont own/use a smart phone

I would think for them it would pay to switch and go with the $2 unlimited plan and save over $30 a month

Is the prepaid the same network service as the regular AT&T?

Got to thinking if AT&T has this $2 a day unlimited that should work out to less then what they charge for their reg Unlimited plan which is $99 a month, so why do so many people pay the $99 when they can get it for 1/3 less

I don't think the prepaid includes data, did you see anywhere that it does?

Is the prepaid the same network service as the regular AT&T?

Yes.

theres a new thing from boost called shrinkage.
unlimited bb service starts at 60, then goes down $5 every 6 monts till it gets to 45. if you do the math it comes to 52.50 a month for the first 2 years.
i'm not in the market for a phone now, but i think this sounds pretty good. dunno about boost...
dont know if this is the thread...
can u activate any sprint phone w/ boost?

anyway - steve2, i got here after u bought the prepaid, but i have a sim card (and maybe a phone) on my tmo plan, you could use a few hundred minutes i guess, if you want u can pay me a bit, not asking perticularly though. and the advantage is theres free nights and weekends.

if your interested let me know im in nyc.

Thanks for the offer unfortunately the phone was ordered and paid for already and that should cover the 1st 2 weeks for now, and I wouldnt have simply taken it for nothing. But once all her friends and family have her # I think its best to keep the same # to make it easier on her

its unlimited talk and text, alot of people I know dont use their phones even for texting but solely for use as a phone. just as I do.Thats why we didnt go with the iPhone and stick to the old type of cell phones

my plan off contract for yrs already is 475 peak, free weekend and nights (7pm-7am) and free anytime to other AT&T cells and rollover to boot all for $46 all in. And I usually have problems using up all my peak mins otherwise Id be all over this $2 a day deal

That's a generous offer.

I'm glad to see some Jew loving in this thread. Seriously.

I dont think theres 1 person on DD that doesnt love Jews. We just dont always agree on everything and in my book there isnt any wrong with that, nor do I think theres anyone on DD that hates Jews or any 1 Jew

But now that this thread is back on topic can we please keep it there and keep it dealing with cell phones etc and not the SR issue

Note that I didn't comment on the SR issue (I specifically refrained from that). I commented on the behavior of members on this site. I'm a member too, I like when there's good Karma here.

if you pay a bit more you can get data, like 75 for unlimited talk text and 200 MB data. But again no smartphone.

I've read somewhere that if you have (certain?) unbranded/unlocked/international phones then then you can use a smartphone (this was regarding regular Att where they slap you with a fee if you use a smartphone).
