Stuck flying somewhere because you have lots of miles

as an interesting halachik aside, in preparation for this trip, i've learned (from my rav) that i don't need a minyan to make a siyum and avoid the erev pesach fast. i booked early monday flights, which would mean no siyum in shul, but the daf will be finishing sukka on rosh chodesh so private siyum on the plane with last minute chometz. (in the end i switched the flights to sunday.) just thought i'd share that tidbit in case its applicable to others. (i think there should be a forum for erev pesach siyumim on flights and in airports.)

true. never said dream just vacation. the theme is just that i find myself unexpectedly flying somewhere because its no big deal anymore. not complaining though.

obviously not the siyum part. i thought perhaps a minyan might be necessary for a חלות סעודת מצוה. perhaps, a bad hava aminah, and among my friends we assumed it would be fine, but i felt uncomfortable before clearing it with a rav. indeed his response was of course. sorry, if i wasted your time.

Thats when you're not the one making the Siyum. Though im not a Rav.

Main issue is Pesach with the in laws. And, to spend my hard earned miles on top of it!
Just wondering if others have found themselves traveling where they don't want to go because ticket prices are no longer an excuse.

Even with all my miles, i am still being dragged in a car from NY-Toronto.

to be a little more fair, it is Niagara on the Lake which makes the travel time similar. Though i would rather spend 7 hours traveling to airport and flying, than sit in a car.

Once you have 2 kids it's already better to sit in the car for those 6-7 hours.

Only at one... Though i am "making" us leave HKG 14 hours early so we I can get to fly on the A380.

I don't understand the dilemma.
Webby don't you just tell your wife you'd rather spend the miles for something better abd that it's more exciting for you to found the pesach with say your parents (her MIL...).

If you have an issue telling her that, I'd wonder how she knew you have miles in first place.
