nassau is another country - bahamas.  Must be their airport tax.

Leaving Canada, for example, cost $50.

Soooo much i do not know.

I believe you will be paying taxes regardless. Unless you have SWCP, i believe Avios is the best option.

if i fly american with a transfer in miami, for 2 people, its 70k plus $192
if i fly to miami, then avios it to bahamas, its 50k aa, 18k avios, $194
the first way is probably better

The second is better actually.
And if you do the whole thing avios is 48K avios plus $194

Maybe save your AA for Maldives and transfer UR (instantly) to BA.

the other problem i have is transfering 48k to avios can also be $480 with a few clicks of the mouse, making the trip total a little under $700 (i know i can use a broker for more, but im just saying with a few clicks of the mouse)
using AA which i have had for a while and cant be cashed out easily doesnt hurt as much
plus, who knows if ill ever make it to the maldives

Same broker will buy AA from you.

If you can find flights cheap (or close to what you can get paid for the UR points), then you pay for tickets and sell your points.

i know i can sell any points, my point is chase is offering 480 on the spot, so it is right in front of my eyes that im forfeiting that much to fly with 48k avios

Like i said, it all depends on what the flight costs would be for you. If flights would be $500, then sell the points (not to Chase). If flights are $7/800, then your points are worth more (assuming you want this vacation). If you don't care to even go anywhere, sell your points.
