Sheesh, I didn't mean to give an exact percentage. I basically meant to say "an extremely small chance". The shock the OP described sounded like "leaked current" (e.g. an improperly grounded appliance, etc), which is almost never a big deal, for two reasons:
1) Such a shock
feels scary because it has very high
voltage, but carries very little
killing power since it generally has very little
amperage.
2) Most lethal shocks occur when a person has their fingers around the object or wires giving them the shock: the shock causes the muscles to spasm and makes the hand grab onto the offending object, making it difficult to let go. When touching a flat surface (like the OP did), even if his hand would forcibly form a fist, it wouldn't be grabbing anything lethal - it would "bounce" away from the source of the shock.
