But it's considered direct, as flight 796/797 stay the same LAX-TLV and TLV-LAX.

DragonAir flies that route, bookable w/ OneWorld.
flight times don't work out too well. And would rather the extra stop to go CX J

Unless something has changed, the vast majority of the time they use their regional product on that route, in which case you'd be silly to add on a leg simply to fly a subpar J.

LAX-PHX-EWR 24 hr stopover (hopefully lax-jfk will open up)
JFK-VCP on AA reconfigured 763. Was hoping for the 77W but I'm not taking chances

Nope. They use the lie-flat product for the majority of those flights.

Just checked again. Looks like it's a lottery, depending which flight you take. Just as likely to get a 773 or a 333 with regional config, as you are a 333 with long-haul config. Looks to be 50/50. Definitely used to skew towards regional.

In any event, IMHO, it's still not worth it to add 40% (and no less than 5 hours of travel time) to your trip to fly CNX-BKK-HKG just to get CX J (which may or may not be long-haul and can and does often get switched out) instead of CNX-HKG (which is like a 2.5 hour flight)

I got the regional version when i went last year. If i knew more about booking then, i would have just went from CNX.

Point taken. In any event seems like the 1 flight daily wouldnt get me in in-time to catch my connection to EWR. Maybe I'll just fly night before from CNX-BKK and spend some time there in the morning till my 1pm flight BKK-HKG-EWR

Stay in CNX. Not worth moving everything around for a night (especially if you have a kid IIRC).

Nice! That flight is just as a war to AD starting flights soon to JFK and currently to MIA area. Keep it mind it is a solid 2 hours from SAO.

Yeah it's far- I hesitated at first but I feel like at this point it's the best I'm going to do on AA miles. The 77W flights are all standard availability. I would still take VCP over angle lie flat any day!

Look closer in, this route opens up lots of times in J and even F. If you flying Azul or connecting to Azul you can use their free connecting bus from VCP to SAO.

Asked in a different thread but you might know- would AA charge a change fee for switching from JFK-VCP to JFK-GRU, since destinations are in the same area?

Would AA book TLV-CNX for the same 60RT as TLV-BKK?

Sure, anywhere in that area assuming it's a published routing. But it would be a pain, since the route would likely be as follows.
TLV-AMM-BKK-HKG-CNX

Was much easier w/ LY options.

I currently have an LY flight scheduled,  when I tried adding on BKK-CNX originally they insisted it would be more. I'll just end up paying $25 for that flight

This was the best option as I needed 5 seats, and this leaves a few hrs after tisha ba'av.
I can only hope that 15 hrs in Y, w/ my height and kids should be a teshuva cleansing process.
