Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

The Target Prepaid REDcard
« on: October 06, 2014, 09:53:17 PM »
Amex is launching another prepaid product in conjunction with Target. It looks to be almost identical to Bluebird and it doesn't seem to be possible to have either BB, Serve, or Red simultaneously.
In store debit loads are $2,500 per day and $5,000 per month.
Online debit load of $200 per day and $1,000 per month.

Details here.

Why would it be worth closing your serve account to get this?

If target is enough closer to you than walmart, that you can do more loading this way. Maybe.
As of now I'm going to wait and see how this card turns out.

Looks like this isn't (yet) available in NY,NJ,CT. I guess that means this is a no-go for 85% of DDF members...

Question is if you manage somehow to get a card, can it be reloaded at Targets that don't carry it.

Going to have to say yes to activate and load. Basing this on other products.

I wish I knew someone in CLE that could pick one up and mail it to me. There are plenty of participating stores there... ;)
