I believe the person picking them up can load them with one dollar. After that the person who bought them can open and send photos of the front and back to a buyer. The buyer can register the temp card online and will get a permanent card. The temp card is void once the permanent is activated.  (so no risk of identy theft)

Ppl who have actually gotten the RedCard can prob confirm this method.

They need the card number, security code and DOB.

Amex gc do not get activated immediately. Takes about hour and a half.

no. you can load the 500, then before you load more you need to register online. then you can load 1k until the perm comes

You activate the temp card w or w/o putting on $500.  You register on line.
While waiting for the permanent card:
a) you're so excited to have a Redcard, you go back to Target and load another 1K.
b) The end of the month is approaching and you're worried that you won't get the permanent card in time to load it on 2 days for 2.5K each, so you go back to Target and load 1K.
c) you have the patience to wait.


Then, when the permanent card comes:
a) You take your card to Target and load up to 4K more over at least 2 days. (2.5K max/ day)
b)see a) above.
c) You go to Target and load up to 5K over at least 2 days.
