United Airlines mistaken fare

The Department of Transportation is aware of an issue involving mistaken fares on United Airlines’ Danish-facing website.  The Department's Office of Aviation Enforcement and Proceedings has begun looking into this matter, including speaking to United and reviewing consumer complaints.  That Office will gather all the relevant facts before making a determination as to whether United is or is not required to honor the mistaken fares.

To Whom It May Concern,

Yesterday I purchased a flight itinerary from United Airlines via their website: United.com. The flights were booked, I was issued a 'confirmation number' and my card was charged for the full amount of the fare. A short time later United.com indicated that my itinerary was "confirmed and ticketed". I have attached a printout from United.com showing this, as well as a printout of my receipt indicating that the airfare was booked, ticketed and paid for.

Yesterday I was informed by United that they had voided my itinerary. This was done without my knowledge and without my consent.

As such, I ask that you please compel United Airlines to honor the ticket which they sold me, and to provide compensation for their grievance and the inconvenience which it caused me.

United is looking into an issue whereby a third-party software provider applied an incorrect exchange rate for tickets sold from the airline’s Denmark website. We have temporarily suspended sales from the Denmark website and are working to resolve the issue with the provider

Just another point...
If iyh bezh plz G-d these are ticketed you will earn miles exceeding the value of the ticket!

Are you sure?

I calculated that under the current rules, my LHR-ZRH-MUC-TLV-FRA-ORD trip with all fare bonuses would earn me 18,120 UA miles. Unfortunately though, and I would imagine this is the case for many of those who bought tickets, my flights are in March, after the switch to UA's new earning structure where miles are earned based on price paid. Now unless for some crazy reason the miles get calculated based on the intended fare for the ticket (the GBP fare before the incorrect conversion) instead of the glitch fare (the DKK fare I paid), the ticket will not in fact earn me very many miles at all - if credited to UA.

Could use some educated advice:
1. I booked LHR-ZRH(layover)-TLV(dest)-ZRH(layover)-LHR.

2. I got an email from United when I booked stating:
united.com Codeshare Flight Ticketing Delay
Dear YOSEF,

This notification is being sent to you because one or more flight segments associated with the confirmation shown above is on a codeshare partner(s). This itinerary will remain in effect for 24 hours through Thu., 12 Feb., 2015. Once our codeshare partner accepts this reservation your fare will be guaranteed, your ticket will be issued with the form of payment authorized and a receipt will be sent to you.

3. I checked the PNR on United.com and its missing the TLV-ZRH leg.

4. I checked the PNR on Swiss.com, and it has all the legs.

So: should I call UA and try to get them to issue the ticket? Or leave it and hope for the best?

I have the same issue with itins that have codeshare flights (LX, TK). For now I'm waiting to see what their next move is...

True. But I don't think you can do that until the they actually cancel it. Until then, what are you complaining about?

What I would suggest, is that for anyone who hasn't already done so, either take a screenshot of or print the itinerary on United's website where it says that it was ticketed and confirmed (or just confirmed) before they cancel it and you lose the proof that you once had a reservations.

You can also go to your reservation on UA.com and have them email you your receipt which has the ticket # and all the info on it
