and does that mean she socializes with them out of work as well?   you really can't figure out what might be inappropriate about that?

and, hate to break it to ya, but this ain't no company here, it's a social network
have u been to a DO? the ones ive been to was all about picking Drago's brain or uncle moishy or chaikel, red, armadillo, and so on.... so to me, i see a DO as more of a way to get questions answered....
but i can be wrong!

I assume that some poskim assur a woman working around men strictly because they're afraid of others falling down the same slippery slope.

Pretty hard for a man or woman to find a normal job today in a non-coed environment...
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Any chance this can be moved into a just shmooze thread? Or the ethical thread? Or modern day halacha thread?

there are definitely benefits/tricks to be had by going to a do, i don't see why that makes it any less of a social outing.

if all the guys in her work were going to get beers after work, or going to a ball game together, and there was good work information to be gained by her going, that would make it better?   eh

some ;) people did quote halacha. And I just think this whole thing should be in a new thread, never said it has to do with your comments specifically...

You found one ;)

I don't know the shittos well, but they may hold that the negatives outweigh the benefits of an extra salary.

Still, I've never heard a posek assuring a man to work around women, only the opposite scenario. This may be because a woman (if targeted) may be easier to fall, or because there are much worse consequences if she falls.

I wasn't preaching halacha. Rots wants to know why other people don't agree to his views, I showed him one reason. I don't believe in preaching, that's why I kept my mouth shut until then.

Some people here are just not nice.
They seem to forget that Lyla is not just a dummy DDF handle, she's a person, human with feelings.
If you don't feel it appropiate - according to your standards, than don't come. Period.
Where do you take a Heter from to be mevazeh a fellow Jew in public??
Some people have no respect to other's feelings AND to Halacha! All in the name of ------!
I can promise you, hashem wants you more not to embarrass her in public than you not attending a mixed DO.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

Instead of you guys bashing the posters here, I would like to see some quotes of posters making fun of lyla.

I'd like to go. Hope you will allow women this time.

I'm not sure the guys would like that. Guys?

no offense.. im out if there will be women-

but for those saying there out, pls explain, i dont get it...sorry

Based on the flow of the topic, I wouldn't be so quick to bash the posters. And if I disagreed with those that don't wanna go, I wouldnt pose it as a question that compells those that hold the other way to defend and explain themselves, whose position may offend others.

PS. Since you continue to make fun of others and I, you may want to start posting the offensive quotes. I'm smelling hypocrisy in here.

1. I don't think any body said "she" (i.e. women) can't come, rather that they wouldn't come if it's mixed.

2. You must be following a different discussion than me, the one I see is a general discussion of whether  or not a mixed DO is inappropriate, nothing to do with any individual member coming or not.
