United Travel Certificate Rules

When i try to change a flight, but the flight i want to change to is $1000 less than my original flight,  the UA website is offering me "$1000 United travel certificate "

#1 Would the travel Agent know that i changed the ticket? Or will he lose some commission?

#2 is the UA travel certificate transferable?

1) Yes -it comes up on thier queue. Most of the times when you cancel lets say, they do claw back the commission, though when reissuing a tkt they will sometimes forget.

If its a refundable fare UA.com is known to say it will be a travel cert, but process a refund to the original cc instead.

Right Dan and thanks for pointing out. I had that on the phone, I asked for a cert and they told me since it is a refundable ticket they can not give you a cert only a refund to CC, though with HUCA I managed to get a cert.

And I've had on the phone where they say it'll go to a cert but then it auto refunds.
Very buggy, but there are some tricks you can do.
