What isn't like that?
Do you know what food used to be? Do you eat in restarsunts?
Do you know what houses used to be? Do you have more than 1 room in your house?
Do you know what phones used to be? Do you have a smart phone?
Etc etc.
Just because something has been improved upon since it was invented doesn't mean it's a waste. Of course it has some merit, but saying that we should all only use the most basic type of something is ridiculous.
People can spend money on whatever they'd like. They earned it let em enjoy it
Good point but it's something about a car that sticks out.
You can justify fancy and very overpriced food because you have a sensitive stomach (or similar) etc...
You can justify a big house because you have a big family and/or you have a lot of "stuff"
You are one hundred percent correct with the smartphone, there's absolutely no need for the latest and greatest but that is a rather grey area. The purpose of a phone was to connect person A to B "wirelessly". The purpose of a smartphone? Not so sure... perhaps the ultimate time waster?
But a car? A car was and is ultimately just to get you from point A to B. Some do it faster and some slower but that's all it is and if you live in any sort of metropolis the speed goes out the door anyway. So what net gain is there in spending X amount more then the average?
