The Verizon model comes GSM unlocked, but you need to tweak some settings. You DO NOT need to activate this on Verizon and can simply pop your sim card in the phone and it will work.

Hope the claim works out for you! Phones are a great value as is, but it could be free depending on the model.

The claim requires you to:
be 18 years or older
be a verizon subscriber
buy from a Verizon retailer

What do you need for the claim:

I will call to confirm, but i think it needs to be an "authorized retailer" and not a corporate retailer. It's a little confusing if that means any verizon store or a store like Radio Shack (obm) which sells verizon phones.

I spoke to Samsung; they told me that the promotion was through Verizon(?), and can only be purchased at Verizon retail (official franchise) stores. "This Offer is available only at participating Verizon Wireless retailers."
So unless you find a Verizon store offering the GS6 for under $500, it's not such a good deal at all. Especially since Best Buy has it for basically free with a 2 year contract.

Acc to the rep, only Verizon Corporate retail stores are acceptable; not "authorized resellers". it's a bit confusing

This is what is says "This offer is available only at participating Verizon Wireless retailers.
Offer not affiliated with Verizon corporate online or corporate retail stores."
