Doubt it'll help for now, but do it ASAP for future apps.
If she can deposit about $10,000 in a her new chase checking account she may step into the branch and ask a banker to fill out the special reconsideration form.

Or just HUCA?

Tried that about 4-5 times. Seemed to be hitting a wall.

If 4-5 times would define the concept of HUCA, I'd have only 50% of the credit cards currently in my pocket.

Back in March, I applied for (3BM) and was approved for the United, Sapphire Pref Visa and Hyatt cards.  A few weeks ago I did a 3BM for the Freedom, Sapphire and BA cards. While they were all initially denied, I had no problem convincing a phone rep of the wonderful qualities of each card and how it would enhance my "portfolio" with Chase. Pointing to my excellent banking history with them, as well as my private banking status with JP Morgan, we were able to move over some credit from the other cards to get a new one approved. Thus, I now have 5 active Chase cards: SP MC, SP Visa, United MP Exp, Hyatt and Freedom.

Today, I received the denial letter for the BA card giving 3 reasons:
1) You already have the maximum amount of credit we can offer you
2) You have too many active accounts or too much available credit
3) Too many recent requests for credit or reviews of your credit

What are some good talking points as to how the BA card would enhance my banking portfolio? In theory, I am willing to close the SP Visa card, but I do not want to forfeit the 7% end of year bonus which will probably yield over 10K in UR. Perhaps, I can offer to close the Hyatt to get the BA open.

I just called back in and the rep said that the reason that it was rejected was that there were too many requests for credit from AMEX and from Chase.
She only saw the 2 rejected applications.
Try again?

Got another rep who said that they need to see an established payment history on the 4 accounts that they opened for me (dating from 8/16/2012) before they could consider another card.
Should I keep pushing or am I not going to get anywhere?

I went with: I plan on travelling overseas and I wanted a personal card that didn't have foreign transaction fees, but he didn't bite.

This sounds like the best idea. The only reason I would keep it is for the bag benefit, but I have *G status elsewhere, so that is covered.

I have a chase card I'm having trouble getting approved for. I have a chase account with about 5K. Can I add another 5K and then go to a banker and ask him to do recon for me.
Also, what exactly do you ask the banker to do. I tried this once, the banker filled out a form and faxed it in...called me a couple days later to say it was still denied. Is there some special form they fill out?

Yea it is time to call it a night.  :) But I'll quickly update on my last little AOR for my wife.

Chase
SP - Approved after recon
UA - Approved after recon
SW- Approved after recon

Citi
AA Amex- Approved after calling to confirm some details
AA Visa - Approved after calling to confirm some details

AMex
Spg- FR
I took a stab at it knowing the outcome but hoping things maybe changed with her last name being changed, alas no such luck. Her family was shut down from a FR about 5 years ago. I'm wondering what this means for me as I "moved" into their house.
Well after getting my GC's from the SW card it was time to close the card so as not to have to pay the annual fee.
I did a 2bm for Hyatt and Marriott, I then called app status right after and both were 2 weeks. I called back about 15 min. later and they were both now at 7-10 business days. A quick call to recon and I had the SW and Freedom (had a 2k point deficit) closed and the Hyatt and Marriott were now recommended for approval. A call back to app. status has the Hyatt approved and the Marriott back with the 2 week message.

I was denied the SP and british airways card.
However the reason they denied (or so they say) was because they already gave the maximum amount of credit cards (2) for the year, not having enough credit history (since April) and because the highest CL i have is $2,000 (UA and Freedom).
However today I was approved for the ink bold! with a $5,000 CL!?!
When i applied i really wanted the SP (for the free foreign exchange fee) anyway to still get it? (i did huca a few times... what can i tell them to convince them).
Thanks
update: i finally got a rep to approve me for the SP on the condition that i close my 2 current cards and my first CC's (freedom and united)...
what do u think i should do?
Thanks

Try asking to move over the credit from one to the other and just close one.
You want a card that shows credit history.
