Pars Kosher Market in San Jose, certified by the Vaad, now has a small eat in section (4 tables, first come first serve) with a short meat menu and ready made hot food. Also lots of kosher groceries.
Stanford University Cafeteria weekday lunches five days a week and dinners Monday - Thurs. General public can pay at Florence Moore Dorm and enjoy the Kosher section. Fleishig (meat) for both meals each day. Flo-Mo, as it is called, is on Mayfield Ave., across from the parking lot of Tressidor.  Finding the dining hall can be a challenge for outsiders but any student will direct you.

Groceries (etc):

San Francisco

I believe Mollie Stone's in Palo Alto has a big Kosher selection. there are probably other options there as well.

Anything to do besides for run around the airport?
Time wise any thing close enough to do near the airport?
Lombardi street, Golden Gate bridge, etc.

5 hours is tight considering SF traffic can be tough. If you do make it to SF, you'd have to come and go. Stay close to airport

whats my best chance at landing 2 Saver award J tickets lie flat seats one way JFK-SFO in mid Jan?

noting seems available
should i wait
any other options?
There's generally only 1 per flight. When I did it, I booked 1 J and 1 F since saver F was less than anytime J.

The service is the same in F. The only difference is a slighly wider seat, and not having to worry about a seat mate (which I suppose is worse when travelling with a companion). Food was identical (Borenstein breakfast served on China).

so you mean generally 1 SAVER J seat available?  If travelling with DW though not sure about sitting apart

You could always book saver F and trade with the person she's sitting next to. Though apparently AA sometimes calls that a security risk...

I’m not sure there is anywhere in SF that has a daily minyan.

Just went to a new place in SF called Hummus Bodega. Was pretty good.
SF now has 4 kosher places to eat:
Sabra grill
Frena
Hummus Bodega
Limonana
All under the Va'ad

Agreed, got the sushi for lunch today and it was all really flavorful and tasty. Much better then most of the regular “sushi store / supermarket” sushi found around Brooklyn.
DW wasn’t a fan of the Golden Gate roll. It’s served hot, seemed like they baked the salmon topping directly onto the roll (so put that whole roll in the oven?, notice the foil it’s sitting in).

There are a few small tables for outdoor seating available right by the cafe.

Also got the Limonana from Malawach Bar that was delicious (ordered it while waiting for them to finish making our sushi).

SQL is not too far from SFO / San Mateo and the Grand Hyatt SFO gets great reviews.
