UPDATED: The Hilton Aspire credit card from American Express now comes with two semi-annual $200 credits, one each half a calendar year, which can be used towards room rates, taxes, spas, meals, and other incidentals at any of the 200+ hotels listed here.

There are three ways to purchase someone's credit for use towards your room rate:

1)Use their card to book a prepaid rate online

2) Have them make you an AU and then use that card to pay for your room at check-in

Obviously, option 1 is more desirable than 2, or

3) Have the buyer send you a personalized link that pays to the resort.

Which is obviously the best.

If you have expiring credits just call some resorts until you find one that sells GCs.

Do you have to stay at the resort hotel in order for the credit to work? Can u just walk in and use the spa? Buy something at the gift shop? I think I remember reading somewhere that only works if charge is charged to the room (spa charged added to room charge). Anyone know?

As per FT, anything that shows up as a charge from Hilton XYZ and that hotel is in the list at hilton.com/resorts then it'll work. For example, some hotel restaurants/gift shops apparently show up as Hilton XYZ and some show up as a restaraunt charge. If you could figure out how to buy a gc and have the charge show up as one of the hotels on the list, it sounds like it would work. It seems that eating at certain hotel restaraunts can trigger it even if you're not staying there at all.

We used our credit at the Waldorf spa in Park City.  Didn't have a room to charge to and it worked (stayed at the Hyatt Centric - awesome).
