One thing I can tell you is that this is not in class on a school day. They are not wearing uniforms and the girl's schools didn't start yet. But that's okay, we've come to expect people to bash Lakewood first and find out the facts later.
2 wrongs don't make a right. Clearly, what is visible from the clip looks pretty wrong. School day or not, uniform or no uniform and location is all irrelevant.
If it was not on a school day then the entire premise of the letter that the girls were embarrassed in front of their class is a malicious lie.
I'm not talking about the letter. I'm talking about what is happening in that clip. And what difference does it make if it's in a class/school setting or not?
In that case is it so clear that it is wrong for a school to have tznius standards regarding girl's hair? If they have standards is it clear that it should not be enforced? Even the baal halashon of the letter concedes that a school has that right and only takes issue with them supposedly embarrassing the girls in front of their class.
Is the issue their hair is to long or short?
Depends on the school. No, but in this case they're trying to make sure the kids hair isn't too long. Though I've heard of some that have to have their hair 'long' enough so it fits in a ponytail.
They absolutely have the right to set rules but "that" IMHO is a wrong and even degrading way of enforcing such a rule.
No, but in this case they're trying to make sure the kids hair isn't too long.
You can have rules about anything. That's your right as a school. But to call them tznius standards is where you run into problems.
Is that what they are doing here? Maybe they are trying to show a girl who already knows that it is too long to what length it should be cut?
Interesting. I seen rules for boys hair being to long but never for girls (in my neck of the woods).
I can't even respond because your argument thinks that her hair is possibly 'untzniusly Long' Should we put a tznius warning on the clip?
That is an opinion which the schools and numerous rbbonim disagree with you about.
