happy with your kitchen chairs?
« on: September 07, 2022, 09:45:02 AM »
i'm looking for inexpensive, but durable kitchen chairs that are easy to clean and wont break with lots of use by kid
my clear plastic chairs keep breaking :(
(i dont either want super commercial looking chairs, as they r for my home, not school dining room)
recommendations are appreciated!!!

We bought the first set https://amazon.com/dp/B075DCHX5G/?tag=cl03f-20&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER for the same price in June 2021 and have been generally happy with them. The only negative is that you need to periodically tighten the screws under the chair.

I have some version of these Ikea chairs. Got them approx. 6 years ago. We did have to tighten the screws after about 4-5 years or so.

Dinette stores in Brooklyn, and I assume other places, have great chairs with metal frames. That will last in comfort for years.

I hate needed to tighten the screws all the time ( which I find by a lot of these style/ikea chairs ). One think that helps is going to a hardware store and buying good screws they stay tight much longer.

The frame might last, but the seat cushion and back will need to get replaced/reupholstered after a couple of years.

Yup.
I bought chairs about 25 years ago for about $50.  I've recovered them twice for maybe $20 each. And it's due for another upholstery which I expect to cost $30-35.
Still the right seat depth and the right height off the floor.
Firm and sturdy as ever.
(The chair isn't as wide and flat as the picture looks.)

what about using Loctite to keep the screws in place?
